What It’s Like to Wait for College Admission Decisions (As Told By GIFs)

The Feelings of Anxious High School Seniors Next week colleges will begin releasing regular admission decisions for the class of 2020, and many high school seniors across the globe are anxious to learn whether they were admitted to their dream colleges or not. There are a lot of complicated emotions that students go through between the time they submit their applications and they learn their admission decisions. There’s excitement, stress, disappointment, anxiety, and everything in between. It’s a big time for high school seniors, and as decision notification dates draw closer, there’s a rollercoaster of emotions. Here’s what it’s like to wait for college admission decisions (as told by GIFs!) 1. Every email alert is a cause for panic. Is it from the school? What does it say? Oh just a reminder about something unrelated to decisions? Cool. 2. Hitting â€Å"refresh† on your applicant portal is instinct. You can help but refresh the page at least six or seven times when checking your application status. Eventually you start doing it to every website you visit without realizing it. 3. It’s all you and your friends can talk about. Have you heard anything yet? I saw they posted something on their blog last week. Did you get that email about additional materials? No matter what, conversation always seems to go back to college applications. 4. But you don’t really want to talk about it. It’s hard not to talk about it with friends, but that’s as far as you want to go. Bringing it up with family, family friends, and other people just adds to the stress. 5. You dream about getting accepted. Everyone has that dream of opening that letter and seeing they got in. It’s disappointing to wake and realize you still have two more weeks until decisions are released. 6. You dream about getting rejected. There’s also that nightmare of not getting into any college you applied to. It’s a huge relief to wake and realize you still have two more weeks until decisions are released. 7. If one more person asks where you’re going to college you might lose your mind. No, grandma, I don’t know where I’m going yet – decisions haven’t come out yet. Every adult you know seems to ask but they don’t realize you don’t even know where you’ve been accepted yet. 8. No matter what happens, it’ll all work out. It’s important to remember that, while this is an important time in your life, not everything hinges on one letter. If you applied to a balanced list of colleges you will get into a school that’s a great-fit for you and your goals. It’s not where you go to college, but what you do with your time there!
